Week 5 In Class Progress

Today, we came prepared to be done with the frame and to get started on the Axle design. During the week, we redesigned the frame to fix the issues that we had last week. We decided to make the frame longer to fix the issue with the tires and we created a cut in the back end of the frame to allow space for the riders legs to go through.
Top Material: Honeycomb cardboard
Triangular support:Regular cardboard
Cylinder: Circular Cardboard tube
Without wasting time, we worked to pieces the frame together. The triangular piece was added as a support and as a result of a need for a piece to attach the wheel fork to. The triangular piece is also hollowed out and was fitted with triangular bits inside for resistance to compression from gravity.
With the frame out of the way, we wasted no time in making the wheels or at least drawing out our specific blueprint for it.We adopted a T-shape wheel fork. As you see in the photo above, there is a cylindrical tube going through the triangular support of the frame. The fork of the below picture will be attached to the cylindrical tube in the frame. The back tire was to be stationary and only move in one rotational frame. We intended for the front tire to be able to swivel inside the cylindrical tube but another problem arose. How would we make sure that the friction caused by the swiveling of the fork in the cylindrical tube wouldn't wear it away. We would have to fix that by next week.
